Planning for April trip to Hawaii

Here we go again. This time we're using two timeshare weeks (that were going to expire due to too much cruising and not enough timesharing :)). Ellen and Mike, Carson and Nicholas are going with us to Oahu for the first week. It's the first time to Hawaii for the boys and the first time to Oahu for Ellen and Mike. The Marriott Vacation club at Ko o Lina (on the west coast of Oahu) is the most beautiful we've been to and we can't wait to share it with our family. . The timeshare is at the second lagoon in this picture . After they return home at then end of Spring Break, our friend Gayle will be joining us for the 2nd week at the Marriott Vacation Club Waiohai on Kauai. We stayed there a few years ago and love it's quiet location, calm beach and easy access to the sights on the island. We're expecting lots of relaxation for us since we've been to both places before. We're not compelled to see the sights although we do want to visit some of our favorites again.

We'll have 2 cars for our week in Oahu, do we can split up and have the freedom to come and go when the spirit moves us. Of course, we have regaled Ellen and Mike with the 'must dos' for first timers (Pearl Harbor memorial, Diamond Head, north-side surfing beaches, shrimp trucks, Aquarium, etc.)- now it's up to them to decide where and when to go. The lagoons and pool at Ko o Lina sound good to us!

Only 2 1/2 months to go, so planning is well underway. We've used frequent flier miles to get to the west coast. Flight schedules mean a night at an airport hotel to make an early morning flight to Honolulu and a night in Waikiki prior to checking in at the timeshare. We got a great car rental rate on Priceline and we're well on the way to smiling in the sun which sounds really good as we're still in a deep freeze in NC.
